“Men’s Health” with Siberian Ginseng & Maca

  • Description
    • Eleutherococcus senticosus (Siberian Ginseng) is a species of small, woody shrub in the family Araliaceae growing in mountain forests in East Asia, China, Japan, and Russia. Its active components, eleutherosides, are said to stimulate the immune system. Siberian Ginseng has a long history of use in traditional Chinese medicine.
    • Lepidium meyenii (Lepidium peruvanum or Maca) is a plant that grows in central Peru in the high plateaus of the Andes. It has been cultivated as a vegetable crop in Peru for at least 3000 years. Maca is a relative of the radish or turnip. Its root is used to make medicine.

  • Potential virtues
    • Siberian Ginseng was traditionally used to prevent colds and flu and to increase energy, longevity, and vitality. It is widely used in Russia as an “adaptogen” supporting the body to better cope with mental and/or physical stress. It is believed to have positive effects on the immune system, endurance and memory/learning, as well as against fatigue, inflammations and depression.
    • Maca root shows an astonishing composition of amino acids, vitamins, minerals, sterols, fatty acids and glucosinates.  Maca is traditionally used to treat “tired blood” (anaemia) and chronic fatigue syndrome, to enhance energy, stamina, athletic performance, memory as well as to improve fertility. Women use maca for female hormone imbalances, menstrual problems and symptoms of menopause. Maca is also used for weak bones (osteoporosis), depression, stomach cancer, leukaemia, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, to arouse sexual desire, and to boost the immune system in general.
    • In its composition, “Men’s Health” is rich in essential minerals (caclium, magnesium, potassium, iron, silicia, zinc, copper, manganese, phosphorus and traces of iodine). It is rich in B and C vitamins, in cellulose and lignin as well as in amino-acids (aspartic acid, glutamic acid, serine, histidine, glycine, threonine, methionine, arginine, tyrosine, valine, lysine, praline, cysteine and tryptophan).

  • I typically prescribe “Man’s Health” to increase men’s well-being. It notably helps
    • To relieve fatigue, notably in cases of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and “brain fog” but also in stressful situations and insomnia
    • To increase longevity and to boost the immune system
    • To improve memory & concentration
    • To balance the endocrine system (thyroid, pituitary and adrenal glands)
    • To combat radiation and exposure to toxic chemicals
    • To reduce pain
    • To increase male potency reinforcing stamina
    • To improve bone density, notably in cases of osteoporosis

  • Recommended basic treatment
    • Take 4 capsules a day with a large glass of water before meals, preferably 2 in the morning and evening
    • The use of Siberian Ginseng may be contraindicated for patients with high blood pressure or those taking blood pressure medications. Siberian Ginseng may interact with hexobarbital increasing its effect due to inhibition of its metabolic breakdown.
